Fecyljar defends restriction of bookmaker agreements and criticizes LaLiga's stance

The Castilian-Leonese Federation of Rehabilitated Players (Fecyljar) has published an official note, in which it positions itself against LaLiga, the organization responsible for the Spanish Championship. According to SBC Notícias, this was because LaLiga appealed the Royal Decree of the Ministry of the Consumer, from Spain, which heavily restricts the advertising of bookmakers.

Fecyljar guaranteed that “it was satisfied although with some considerations” and “understands that millions of euros escape without the sponsorship of the bookmakers”. In addition, the entity pointed out that these people do not know the “psychological damage that will continue to cause people addicted to games”.

Ángel Aranzana, the president of the federation, stressed that the youngest layer of the population is the most vulnerable group. He also stated that young people today “suffer more from addiction to online gambling due to sports betting”.

“We are aware that all these coordinated and implemented actions can end this collective problem that we are suffering from and we are satisfied. But there is a reality that nobody seems to want to see, ”said Aranzana.

He added: “The game is constantly on the rise and to continue linking football teams to sponsors related to betting, except Real Sociedad, is to return to social stagnation and not fully recognize the addiction to the game.”

As a result of LaLiga’s appeal against the Royal Decree, the current Minister of Consumer, Alberto Garzón, criticized the action in his official profile on social networks and stated that the organization “puts its benefits before the protection of millions of young people across the country ”, And warned that“ they will have to face you ”because they will continue to prioritize“ fair play ”.

LaLiga argues that new measure would harm Spanish teams

LaLiga defends its position against the Royal Decree due to the financial impact that the new measure will have on football clubs. According to the sports entity, the limitation to bookmaker agreements could result in a loss of more than 80 million euros to the teams, which would still need to change their current contracts with companies in the segment.
