All players of the Russian football club, Zenit Saint Petersburg are now available on Sorare’s global fantasy platform as digital cards. Since its launch in 2019, the platform has grown an average of 52% per month and today has more than 40 thousand users worldwide.
With Sorare, users can collect cards from their favorite players, exchange them with other coaches and play as soon as they have 5 cards. The score on the player’s card will depend on his performance in real life, whether in a Russian Championship or Champions League game.
Nicolas Julia, CEO of Sorare, said: “We are delighted to have Zenit, joining Sorare today. We are proud to help the club shine even more around the world through our game. This agreement is a fundamental step in our vision of creating a global fantasy football game with the top 20 leagues in the world ”.
Sorare meets the demand of the Russian public
Through organic growth, Russia has become Sorare’s third largest market in terms of user base, sustained by a 70% month-over-month increase. Russia is also considered the market leader in terms of time spent on the platform, averaging 1 hour and 15 minutes a day.
The platform boom in Russia is a reflection of the population’s passion for fantasy football. The addition of Zenit comes in response to significant user demand for club players and serves as an additional step in consolidating Sorare in the country.
Alexander Medvedev, general manager of Zenit, said: “FC Zenit is proud to announce the collaboration with Sorare. We look forward to future commitments with our new partner and look forward to developing new digital markets and joining the already 15 million fans who play the game around the world. ”
As such, the Russian team is joining 100 other football teams from Europe, the United States and Asia in partnership with Sorare to issue official cards. The main names on the list are Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico de Madrid.
