Brazil faces final adjustments to enter a new ‘era’, marked by total regulation of the sports betting and online gaming market. According to iGaming expert Petra Micallef, these are “very exciting times”, with “everyone trying to figure out what’s going to happen”.
“Few really know what will happen, even with the regulatory issue,” she stated.
Petra highlighted that she has worked with operators in Latin America for many years, working for big names in the market such as Betsson and Better Collective. “It’s my favorite region and Brazil has the greatest potential”, she highlighted.
Petra Micallef talks about the new moment in Brazilian industry
According to the iGaming specialist, it is possible to prepare for the changes in Brazil based on other examples of markets that “went from deregulated to regulated”.
“There are patterns to this. Typically, you will no longer have a large number of operators, with others consolidating. The operators that remain are large. They have more marketing muscle, but they will operate under completely different conditions with higher fees and restrictions.” , she pondered.
Finally, Petra Micallef noted that “it will be a very different environment not only for the operator, but also for the consumer”.
