Rio de Janeiro added another chapter to its history of innovation by opening the first public Gamer Arena in Brazil.
Located inside the Engenhão Ship of Knowledge, in the North Zone of the city. This new space has room for 100 people and promises to be a hub of inclusion. Additionally, hold esports competitions.
Innovation on the Knowledge Ship
Arena Gamer is a project carried out by the Municipal Department of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Games and eSports Coordination, of the Civil House Secretariat.
The space, which will host small and medium-sized competitions, as well as regional tournaments, stands out as an initiative that aims to boost the creative industry, offering opportunities for emerging professions in this sector.
Mayor Eduardo Paes, an enthusiast of the potential of electronic sports, commented on the inauguration, highlighting the importance of consolidating Rio as the capital of innovation and technology in Latin America.
He expressed his vision for the Knowledge Nave, which will not only house the Gamer Arena, but also offer courses, team training, championships and, soon, a business incubator to boost the gaming economy in the region.
Commitment to the gaming community
Arena Gamer has a complete infrastructure. At the same time, including a stage for two teams of up to five players, a broadcast studio, dressing rooms, an area for technical staff, an LED screen and a grandstand.
The location will also encourage the training of new talents, not just as players, but as narrators, commentators and broadcast technicians. Thus contributing to the growth of the eSports industry in the city.
In addition to competitions, the Arena offers a simulator area. So that where visitors can explore the world of virtual reality. All this through glasses that provide an immersive experience in 360º digital environments.
The Retro Games space also provides a nostalgic journey to classic games, from the beginnings of video games.

Arena Gamer is located at Ship of Knowledge Engenhão, at Rua Arquias Cordeiro 1,516, Engenho de Dentro.
It is open from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 9pm, and on Saturdays, from 9am to 4:30pm. An invitation for gamers and enthusiasts of all ages to explore the exciting universe of electronic sports in the wonderful city.
