Vasco da Gama is close to defining its new master sponsor. The club advanced in negotiations with Sportingbet and forwarded an agreement that could be in force until the end of 2027, with renewal expected for another season.
Talks between the parties resumed in recent days after a first round of negotiations held in April. At the time, the negotiations lost strength because members of the board considered that the values presented were below the club’s expectations.
According to information initially released by the Expresso 1923 channel and confirmed by the ge portal, the understanding between the parties has evolved and the agreement is close to being formalized.
Negotiations resumed after initial impasse
Conversations between the club and the bookmaker had been going on for a few months. However, part of the leadership linked to President Pedrinho demonstrated resistance to the initial proposal.
Behind the scenes, the assessment was that the offer presented by Sportingbet did not reach the values previously received by Vasco in its contract with Betfair, ending in 2025.
Despite this, negotiations recently returned to the agenda and advanced the final details of the possible agreement.
The negotiations are under the responsibility of Carlos Amodeo, CEO of SAF Vasco, who leads the conversations with company representatives.
Club seeks partner for most valuable shirt space
Vasco has been without a master sponsor since the end of December. Since then, the main kit space has remained available while the club seeks a new commercial partnership.
The absence of a sponsor in the place considered most valuable on the shirt started to generate concern behind the scenes at São Januário.
Furthermore, the board followed a scenario of slowdown in the advertising market linked to the sports betting sector. The movement reduced the number of agreements closed by Brazilian clubs in recent months.
Given this context, internal pressure grew for SAF executives to conclude negotiations to fill the uniform’s main commercial space.
Contract can guarantee commercial stability for Vasco
If confirmed, the link between Vasco and Sportingbet will be valid until the end of 2027. Furthermore, the contract provides for the possibility of extension for another year.
The expectation is that the partnership will represent a new source of revenue for the club at a time of financial reorganization and the search for greater commercial stability.
To date, neither Vasco nor Sportingbet have officially announced the signing of the contract.
