The City of São Gonçalo has signed a contract with the company Equis Pay to manage payments for the São Gonçalo Municipal Lottery (LotoSG). Confirmation of the contract was published in the city’s Official Gazette last Thursday (24).
Equis Instituição de Pagamento Ltda. will be responsible for distributing funds to authorized lottery retailers under the city’s new betting program. The contract is for 60 months. Headquartered in São Paulo, the company offers financial solutions and other corporate services.
The progress of the process was published in the Official Gazette on the 11th. In a meeting held on June 30th, the program’s technical committee decided to approve the company after analyzing more than 20 documents presented, including contractual amendments, negative certificates, balance sheets and other documents required by the notice.
In addition to this contract, the city government launched the official website, the program’s slogan and another public call for companies interested in operating the project’s Fixed Odds Betting (AQF) modality.
About the São Gonçalo Municipal Lottery
Created by law by the Executive, the São Gonçalo Municipal Lottery was authorized to operate on March 10th, and regulated by decree of Mayor Capitão Nelson on May 16th.
This is a public service with the objective of generating revenue for the municipality through the operation of lottery games authorized by federal legislation.
The Municipal Government Secretariat will be responsible for organizing and overseeing LotoSG. Furthermore, the operation of the games is the responsibility of accredited private companies (lottery operators).
With the obligation to have headquarters in São Gonçalo, and duly authorized to operate both online and in physical locations.
Modalities available in LotoSG
Authorized modalities include:
- Numerical prediction lotteries (in which the bettor tries to predict the numbers drawn);
- Sports predictions (bets on the results of sporting events);
- Passive lotteries (with pre-numbered tickets);
- Instant lotteries (with immediate results);
- Online games with prizes in cash or goods.
Fundraising and prizes
The funds raised will be used to pay premiums, pay taxes, and maintain the system. Additionally, part of the funds will be allocated to municipal social security and other city projects.
According to the decree, operators must follow transparency guidelines, promote actions to combat online gaming addiction, maintain customer service channels, and prevent the participation of minors under 18 years of age.
Failure to comply with the rules may result in penalties such as warnings, fines, suspension, and even revocation of the permit.
