Five sports organizations will earn R$630,000 this year to encourage and increase the chances of young people practicing sports in the country. Gol de Letra Foundation, Oswaldo Ribeiro de Mendonça Institute, Association and Support for Children at Risk (Acer-Brasil), Rise-Up International Inc. and Centro Esportivo e Educacional Jorginho – Bola Pra Frente will be the first to receive support from Betfair.
Entitled Esporte Futuro, the project has long-term initiatives in Brazil and aims to positively influence around 10 million people through sport and leisure, using the skills of its employees and the reach of the brand.
“As we have grown our operations and presence in Brazil, it has become increasingly apparent that Betfair is well positioned to do more for local communities,” said Sue Hammett, International Director of Social Responsibility at Flutter International, parent company of Betfair.
“Through the ‘Esporte Futuro’ project, we can do our part in building a happier and healthier Brazil and that’s why we are delighted to partner with these five sports associations, each of which does fantastic work in their communities. locations.”
Betfair to include other charitable organizations in the project
Betfair’s aim is not to restrict its activities to the first five organizations selected at the start of this project. Other groups can be chosen. There will be a rigorous process to ensure that money goes to charities.
“For the coming year, we would like to have our Brazilian community at Betfair involved in encouraging associations to apply for a grant, and to play an important role in the selection process,” added Hammett.
“Sports and leisure is one of our main themes in the Do More pillar of our Positive Impact Plan to invest in the community, and we want to ensure that projects that most need support can access grant funding. We support projects that improve health and well-being through grassroots sport. All projects that fall under these themes will be considered for future grants.”
Betfair injected around BRL 25 million in 2022 into social projects in various parts of the planet. This year, after the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, the bookmaker donated BRL 950,000 to help rescue victims.
