Consider renting hardware for your business. You are currently relying on the best technology available and are in line with cost-effectiveness and all other related factors. Now, consider what happens when that agreement comes to an end. The best technology in the segment may be outdated.
At this point, you depend on someone to update your equipment before undertaking a renovation to be up to date with technological advances, otherwise, you tend to look for another supplier.
This was an analogy used by Altenar’s CEO, Stanislav Silin, to explain the concept of sports betting software. Silin told SBC News that operators need to be vigilant when entering into a partnership with a vendor not very committed to updates – or that it does not intend to develop its own platform from scratch.
After creating the V1 platform in 2010, Altenar reached a level where it needed to modernize its software instead of generating updates only for the old code. Subsequently, V2 was launched for a specially selected group of partners in April 2020, while the company sought to “serve operators globally more efficiently”.
“I am not saying that this will be the platform on which we will remain for the next 10 years. But we are working to make it easier to migrate or expand to update the technology in a few years, ”said the CEO.
Between 15 to 20% of its partners migrated to the new platform. The trend for this movement to grow this year, said Silin, depends as much on the best time to carry out the migration according to the operator as well as the providers. Since many operators are operating with a separate company for the player account management platform (PAM).
Altenar remains committed to its platforms
Altenar is committed to both platforms, for the time being. “At some point, we will obviously stay with the V2 platform and expand to all markets,” he said.
He added: “The reason I’m being vague about deadlines (to integrate all partners) is because, as I said, it depends a little on the operators and we don’t want to impose strict deadlines on them at the moment”.
In addition, Stanislav Silin commissioned Konrad Pizzuto, the company’s director of technology operations, to carry out the main modifications applied to customers regarding the new platform.
“So, for example, the new platform has margin management that has the ability to define separate probabilities when necessary, completely different from what would be the standard. Something that didn’t exist on the previous platform, ”said Pizzuto.
He added: “And there is also an improved content mapping tool that allows us to connect so many materials, probabilities and data providers, combining what we need”.
This differential of aggregating multiple providers in the odds feed, for Silin, is another point in favor of the acquisition of a software by a specialized betting operator instead of developing his, because doing everything on your own “does not eliminate the need to deal with with all these providers ”.
Advantages
The advantages of the new Altenar platform are not only the most noticeable to the end user, such as integrated third-party content and a wide variety of possibilities. “One of the main benefits of the new platform is that it is geographically scalable,” said Pizzuto.
The director of technology operations gave even more details. “Something that should pay off in the long run, for example, is a change in the way applications are deployed. We now run most of it on the Kubernetes open source system. ”
He concluded: “The agility that comes with the technology we integrate means that we can respond to requests for resources from our partners more quickly.”
