Sportsbet.io presents new virtual activations for Southampton fans

Partner of the English football team Southampton, Sportsbet.io has developed a new VIP experience that uses virtual reality (VR) technology to recreate the magic of game days at home.

The creative concept aims to explore Sportsbet.io’s rights and bring football fans closer to cryptocurrency deals. As part of the action, participants receive a Bitcoin amount that they can use to build their own experience, from a visit to the stadium with a club legend to a front row seat at the training center.

Sportsbet.io believes that the importance of cryptocurrency will increase in sports

Sportsbet.io is using its partnerships to redefine the fan experience, offering exclusive rewards that benefit the Southampton fan base and its customers. The initiative is a demonstration of the company’s effort to innovate in the segment, understanding that the role of cryptocurrency in sport will only increase.

The first virtual reality experience was delivered in December 2020 before the Southampton home game against Manchester City, and included a visit to St Mary’s stadium with the club’s idols, Franny Benali and Matthew Le Tisser, as well as a lesson in penalties with Le Tissier. More activities are planned throughout this year.

“We believe that cryptocurrency has a great future in football and we are certain of that. Along with fan experiences like this, we just saw the first Bitcoin transfer in which a football player was purchased using cryptocurrency and signed a contract with DUX Internacional Madrid, Spain, ”said Tim Heath, founder of the Coingaming Group.

Heath added: “Earlier this year, NFL pro football player Russell Okung said he is getting his salary in Bitcoin. We will probably see more of this, from clubs finding new ways to interact with fans on a match day to how negotiations will be settled. ”

The project was developed by the Sportsbet.io advertising and creation agency, Fuse, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, functioning as a digital solution to activate rights on game days in an environment with the gates still closed.

Southampton’s commercial director, David Thomas, commented: “As a club, our digital approach has always sought to innovate in content production and we are excited about the values shared between us and the Sportsbet.io team”.

Thomas added: “It is a pleasure to be involved with the work that is underway. We cannot wait for our fans to return, but Sportsbet.io has found a revolutionary way to ensure that our club and fans can stay connected.”
