Princess Cruises offers bets for passengers during cruises

Passengers who choose to take a trip aboard Princess Cruises will be able to place sports betting in real time while sailing, according to a recent company announcement.

The service will give punters the opportunity to make their predictions in a wide variety of sports, including professional and college football, basketball, baseball and hockey.

Princess Cruises is the first company to offer this entertainment option

Passengers must log in to the MedallionClass app and bet on sporting events while the ships are in international waters or anywhere else where betting is legally permitted. Travelers will be able to bet on live games or future games.

In addition, the company claims that it is the first to offer this option to cruise passengers. “Taking a cruise vacation no longer means being disconnected from a big game or an iconic event,” said President Jan Swartz.

She added: “Our guests can stay connected with their friends and family around the world, and now with our betting service, they can also stay connected to their favorite teams and bet on a series of events whenever they surf with us”.

The betting service can be accessed from anywhere on board and not just at the casino of the respective vessel. Due to the Carnival Corporation matrix agreement with the Miami Heat basketball team, travelers will not be able to make guesses in NBA clashes involving the team.

The company introduced MedallionClass technology in 2017 and has been implementing it on all ships in its fleet since then. The technology was designed to create memorable vacation cruises, helping passengers to board and disembark in order, order food and drinks from anywhere on the ship and offer Wi-Fi.

At the end of last year, the cruise company announced that all of its vessels would resume operations in 2021.
