Fortuna Düsseldorf, a traditional German Bundesliga team, has a new betting partner, the Gauselmann Group.

The German betting giant, Gauselmann Group, has signed a new exclusive sponsorship contract with the German 2nd division club Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Gauselmann, which like Fortuna is headquartered in Nordrhein-Westfalen state, will use its sports betting brand Merkur for the partnership, which says the club cannot sign similar agreements with other betting companies.

It is a partnership with Merkur Spiel-Arena, of which Fortuna is the main tenant. Gauselmann secured the naming rights for the stadium, which also hosted the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2018.

Christian Koke, marketing director at Fortuna Düsseldorf, commented: “We are the main tenant at Merkur Spiel-Arena, but now we have a comprehensive partnership with Merkur. We can exclusively host a company based in the vicinity as a partner, because the betting market, including sports betting, is economically interesting in football. ”

Gauselmann’s marketing director, Manfred Stoffers, said: “Fortuna is an important sport brand in Düsseldorf. This completes the partnership. We hope that our sponsorship will help ensure that Fortuna is back on the road to success as soon as possible. “
