The Football Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FERJ) suspended, for an indefinite period, the Carioca Championship of the Professional Series C after detecting suspicions of result manipulation in three games in the sixth round of the competition.
The entity took this measure based on documents presented by companies specializing in sports integrity partnerships, such as Sportradar, and by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), such as IBIA (International Betting Integrity Association).
According to these reports, abnormalities identified as suggestive of manipulation were found in the following matches:
- Ceres FC x Tigres do Brasil,
- CAAC Brasil x Itaboraí Profut,
- Barra Mansa FC x Mageense FC.
According to FERJ, three suspicions raised in the same round represent serious signs of compromising the tournament. Thus, there is a need for detailed investigation before the Series C sequel.
Therefore, the tournament is paralyzed from the seventh round onwards and will only be resumed after the end of the investigation and possible manifestation by the Sports Court.
In an official note, the sports entity informed that all documents relating to the matches mentioned in the reports will be forwarded to the Judiciary, the Public Ministry, the Police Authority and the Sports Judiciary for the necessary investigations and applicable sanctions.

For integrity

All documents relating to the matches mentioned in the reports will be forwarded to the Judiciary, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Police Authority and the Sports Judiciary for the appropriate investigations and applicable sanctions.
