Last Thursday (10), the news portal Yogonet was mistakenly included in the list of illegal platforms to be taken offline by order of the Ministry of Treasury. iGaming Brazil promptly showed solidarity with the Yogonet team, publishing the editorial “The Silence of Information” the following day.
“This act is not just a blow against press freedom, but a worrying sign of how information, essential to democracy, can be manipulated or silenced. Our market, the betting market, is being labeled by public opinion makers as wrong, without even taking into account the facts, the truth”, appears in our editorial.
According to the news site itself, “Yogonet is not and has never been a bookmaker. There is no operation of sports betting, online gaming, deposits or withdrawals on the portal”.
With more than two decades of activity, the media company has been producing B2B news focused on covering the legal industry, sharing information and “always in defense of regulation, responsible gaming, integrity and good practices in the sector”.
On Friday (11), the Yogonet website was already blocked in a large part of the country, as a result of the federal government’s failure. The resumption of activities only took place on Monday (14) after contact with the Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA).
Yogonet thanks the support of the entire Brazilian iGaming community
“With the mistake resolved, Yogonet thanks everyone who expressed support in the face of the situation. In particular, we would like to thank our colleagues for their concern and help in finding a quick solution to the blockage: Carlos Cardama and Gildo Mazza (Games Magazine Brasil), who were the first to contact us to alert us about this news; Magnho José, editor of BNLData, for his support and commitment in accompanying us and resolving this problem; Alessandro Valente (BiS SiGMA), for speaking out in favor of our trajectory; Flávio Figueiredo (iGaming Brazil), for his important editorial and help in resolving the issue and, in particular, to the lawyer Luiz Felipe Maia, who advised us very quickly and managed to help us, incredibly quickly and efficiently, to resolve the problem -understood with our complaint to SPA”, wrote the Yogonet team in an editorial published this Tuesday (15).
“Other media partners, executives and readers got in touch expressing solidarity and concern, in a demonstration of the relevance of the work that Yogonet has been carrying out in covering the Brazilian, Latin American and international gaming market. To all of them, thank you very much. We also thank the SPA team for being ready to correct the error quickly”, he continued.
Finally, the news portal emphasized that the case needs to be remembered with a single aim: to ensure that Brazilian authorities have ‘greater and better control’ of their actions. Furthermore, Yogonet reinforced its commitment to publishing quality material for executives, businesspeople, regulators and others interested in the gaming industry.
