New Loterj notice allocates R$1.2 million to daycare centers in Vila do João

The Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj) has released a new Public Call Notice. This document aims to select a Civil Society Organization (CSO).

The main objective is to expand early childhood education services, specifically in the form of daycare. The initiative will focus on the community of Vila do João, part of the Complexo da Maré.

With a value of up to R$1,283,000.00, this call for proposals reinforces Loterj’s commitment to promoting early childhood and social inclusion in highly vulnerable areas. In this way, the project ensures comprehensive care for children between 6 months and 3 years and 11 months.

This includes providing uniforms, teaching materials and psychosocial activities. Consequently, it ensures an environment of care, protection and development for the families served.

Loterj already maintains the Vila do João Early Childhood Education Center in the community itself. This center offers comprehensive care for up to 250 children. Between 2023 and 2025, the agency invested R$1,964,770.62 in this project, located in the North Zone of Rio.

Furthermore, this initiative generates 61 direct jobs, of which approximately 50% are occupied by residents of the region.

Consequently, this promotes local social and economic development. The project is carried out in partnership with RioSolidario and directly and indirectly impacts more than 1,100 people.

Lottery president talks about the importance of daycare centers in communities

Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, president of Loterj, highlighted the importance of investing in daycare centers in the outskirts of cities, considering it an essential and transformative public policy.

Hazenclever Lopes Cançado: “Strengthening early childhood education in vulnerable areas is a concrete way of promoting citizenship from the earliest years of life. With this new call for proposals, we reaffirm Loterj’s role as an agent of inclusion and social development.”

This new call for proposals is part of the Loterj Social Subsidies Program (PSSL). It allocates a significant portion of the agency’s budget to projects aimed at social inclusion.

Additionally, in 2025, Loterj will ensure the continuity of other child development centers. They are located in communities such as Batan (Realengo) and Cidade de Deus. Thus, the investment totals R$5.4 million this year alone.
