ANJL joins national pact against illicit markets in Brasília

The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) formalized its adherence this week to the National Pact to Combat Illicit Markets. The signing took place during a meeting held at the headquarters of the National Council of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (CNMP) in Brasília.

This initiative brought together representatives from different institutional segments with the goal of strengthening joint efforts in combating criminal organizations. Furthermore, participants discussed the effects of the illegal market on economic sectors that operate under regulation.

How does the pact seek to combat the illegal market in the country?

The meeting focused on building coordinated actions between public authorities and regulated sectors. In this way, participants aligned strategies to curb clandestine structures that impact formalized activities.

In this context, the president of ANJL, Plínio Lemos Jorge, highlighted the role of institutional cooperation in strengthening the regulated environment.

Plínio Lemos Jorge, president of ANJL, stated: “We are working towards building an increasingly safe, transparent, and sustainable environment for everyone involved. We will continue working to ensure that the growth of the sector and the country happens responsibly, in a regulated manner, and in line with international best practices.”

Therefore, the organization reaffirms its commitment to continued technical cooperation with the authorities responsible for oversight. At the same time, it seeks to contribute to weakening illicit networks that operate outside the bounds of current regulations.

Institutional activities and guidelines of the association

ANJL also stated that it will maintain technical support to public authorities in formulating measures against the black market. Thus, the association reinforces its defense of a regulated environment structured in accordance with legal parameters.

The National Association of Games and Lotteries was created by a group of sports betting operators with the purpose of providing governments and regulatory agencies with information on international best practices. Furthermore, the organization maintains that the sector, when subjected to regulation, could generate billions of reais in taxes annually for the federal government and subnational entities.

Thus, adherence to the national pact is part of an institutional strategy that prioritizes legality and alignment with internationally recognized practices. Finally, the entity maintains a technical position in the debate on strengthening the regulated market in Brazil.
