The Ministry of Treasury’s Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA/MF) has suspended four betting companies. Initially, 11 operators were notified on Friday (30) for failing to comply with regulatory deadlines.
Betting companies did not submit the assessment report required by Ordinance SPA/MF 722/2024. However, seven operators regularized their situation quickly after the initial notification.
Four companies managed to prove the documentation on Friday. Later, EA Entretenimento and Bet.Bet Soluções Tecnológicas also submitted the necessary reports on Saturday (31).
PixBet Soluções Tecnológicas obtained a court injunction on Saturday. In this way, the company was able to temporarily suspend the effects of the administrative measure against its operations.
Betting operators that remain suspended
The operators whose activities remain suspended, according to the SPA list, are:
- Bell Ventures Digital Ltda – bandbet.bet.br
- Betesporte Online Betting Ltda – betesporte.bet.br, lancedesorte.bet.br
- Sortenabet Gaming Brasil S.A. – sortenabet.bet.br, betou.bet.br, betfusion.bet.br
It is worth noting that Logame do Brasil Ltda, responsible for the brands lider.bet.br, geralbet.bet.br and b2x.bet.br, was still on the list on Monday morning (2). However, the company’s name has oscillated between appearing and disappearing from the list in the last few minutes.
The precautionary measure prevents these companies from accepting bets and deposits. In addition, they cannot register new users while they remain irregular.
Deadline and penalties established for betting operators
Article 8 of the ordinance establishes a 90-day deadline. Companies must submit the report after obtaining authorization to operate in the country.
The lack of documents compromises the safety of bettors. Furthermore, it hinders the fight against money laundering and tax collection.
Operators who fail to comply with the rules will face a daily fine. The established amount is R$40,000 per day of irregularity.
Court decision favors PixBet
PixBet has challenged the suspension of its activities in court. Leonardo Tavares Saraiva, judge of the 3rd Federal Civil Court, granted an injunction in favor of the company.
The defense alleged ambiguity in the calculation of the established period. According to their argument, it was not clear whether the period began with the provisional or definitive authorization.
The judge acknowledged the argument presented by the defense. He considered that there was a risk in maintaining the suspension, especially due to the company’s sporting commitments.
Gradual regularization of betting operators
The regularization process happened quickly after the notifications. Initially, 29 betting brands had their operations suspended by SPA/MF.
After the first regularizations, the number fell to 17 brands. Currently, only eight sites remain with paralyzed activities in the national territory.
.
Finally, the expectation is that the remaining companies will regularize their situation shortly. Therefore, the number of suspended operators should decrease in the coming days.
