Manchester City, current champions of the Premier League and Champions League, will pass through Seoul, South Korea, in pre-season commitments. Taking advantage of their stay in the Asian country, the English club signed an agreement with the South Korean eSports team Gen.G. Together, the teams will promote a series of events and activations.
In the partnership, both will work together to create experiences and opportunities for interaction for their fans, including the organization of events, both in South Korea and in the United Kingdom.
Manchester City is one of the most active clubs in actions to win new fans around the world, such as recent activations raising the flag of sustainability in the environment and the creation of profiles in several languages on social networks.
In addition, Manchester City and Gen.G will explore jointly licensed product development, with an emphasis on releasing restricted editions for fans. There are no details on which products will be made available for sale.
“We are extremely excited about this partnership, both for our competitive professional teams and for our educational academies, and we look forward to developing this collaboration even further in the future,” said Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G.
Still in an expansion phase, Manchester City has professional EA Sports Fifa and Fortnite teams. Closing a partnership with the South Korean team is part of a strategy to expand the fan network of the current champion of Europe across the Asian continent.
