The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) announced last Thursday (13) a partnership with Sportradar AG. The company, a reference in sports technology, intends to boost Brazilian volleyball by modernizing the collection of statistical data, in addition to combating corruption and match-fixing.
According to the CBV, the agreement with Sportradar is for a period of five years. It also aims to expand the use of computers to capture in-depth data from games and training sessions, both on the court and on the beach.
Athlete Data and Tracking Hub
The partnership includes the installation of a data hub for Brazilian players to monitor and track athletes in all categories. In addition, the CBV will have automated technology installed for data collection and video production at the Enel Volleyball Development Center in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro.
In collaboration with another CBV partner, VolleyStation, a company specializing in volleyball software, Sportradar will provide several new technological solutions for the confederation.
According to the CBV, the partnership has already enabled the modernization of statistical data collection and the implementation of the Video Review System (challenge system) in all Superliga matches. From then on, ensuring more accurate and efficient refereeing during the competitions.
CBV and Sportradar against corruption
Sportradar will also be responsible for safeguarding the CBV’s more than 7,400 matches annually. The company will act against corruption and match-fixing through its Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS). It will also provide other integrity services, including educational workshops for athletes, officials and referees.

The CBV represents an important page in Brazilian sport, with 14 Olympic medals in beach volleyball and 12 in indoor volleyball. Thus, Brazil is one of the most successful countries in the history of the Volleyball World League, with nine titles.
