The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) confirmed penalties against six players – active and retired – for involvement in corruption schemes between 2017 and 2018. The sanctions result from joint investigations with Belgian authorities into a criminal organization led by Grigor Sargsyan, sentenced to five years in prison in 2023 for match-fixing.

Five athletes admitted wrongdoing and accepted direct settlements without formal hearings. Among them is Frenchman Jérôme Inzerillo (34 years old), suspended until May 2030 and fined US$50,000 (conditional US$35,000).

David Guez (42 years old), formerly 116th in the world rankings, will have restrictions until October 2028 with a fine of US$25,000 (US$17,500 suspended). Romain Bauvy (30 years old), a doubles specialist, will be suspended until November 2028 for the same period as Guez.

In contrast, two tennis players opted for independent audiences. Yannick Jankovits (38 years old) received a two-year suspension until October 2026 and a partial fine of US$28,000. François-Arthur Vibert (34 years old) will be away from the sport until September 2026 with a conditional fine of US$35,000.

Most severe case of match manipulation

The most severe case was that of Argentine Agustin Moyano (34 years old), who denied the accusations and had his request for a hearing rejected. He received a 15-year suspension until December 2039 and a fixed fine of US$10,000.

During the sanctions, players are prohibited from competing, training or attending events linked to entities such as the ATP, WTA and Grand Slams. The measure aims to curb irregular practices in the professional circuit.

About ITIA

Created in 2021 by organizations such as the ATP, ITF and Grand Slams, the agency acts as an independent watchdog to combat corruption in tennis.

The Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) establishes strict rules for athletes and technical committees, including betting monitoring and collaborative investigations with local authorities.

The entity also promotes educational initiatives on sporting integrity for young and professional players.
