One of the most debated topics in Brazilian football in recent months is the future coach of the Brazilian men’s football team. This subject foments debate between athletes, coaches, fans and journalists related to the sport.

Now, Ronaldo Fenômeno, five-time champion with the national team in 2002 and current owner of SAF do Cruzeiro, gave his guesses. According to the former player, the most popular name is Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, who is also the favorite name of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) for the role.

“My bet, from what I see on the news, would really be Carlo Ancelotti, in first place. I think Abel, from Palmeiras, in second place. And Diniz, from Fluminense, in third place”, said Ronaldo, in an interview to one of Cruzeiro’s sponsors.

“I’m not part of the CBF, I don’t have that decision-making power, but I think these three coaches, in my opinion, are the most likely to take over the Brazilian national team”, he added.

Ronaldo Fenômeno still bets on Neymar for the sixth

In addition to being a prestigious coach, Ronaldo bets on Neymar for Brazil to fight for its sixth title in the 2026 World Cup. According to the former player, the participation of the number 10 of the Brazilian national team is of vital importance to end this fast of more than two decades.

“I think the Brazilian national team has a series of incredible players to build a great team for the next World Cup. Players who have already gained experience in this last Cup and are still young”, evaluated Ronaldo Fenômeno.

Ronaldo believes that Neymar can act as a leader for these new athletes who are gaining ground in the Brazilian national team. “We really hope that Neymar can be motivated for this Cup, because if he is motivated, he will be an important player for the Brazilian national team. I really believe in the potential that the national team has to end this fast, which is very long”, he concluded.

The World Cup itself will be played in three countries: Mexico, the United States and Canada.
