The travel experience for national and international visitors attending the February editions of ICE London and iGB Affiliate London will be transformed following the opening of the new £18.7 billion high-speed rail line. The Elizabeth Line, which officially opened on 24 May, has reduced travel time from the English city center to ExCeL London to just 12 minutes.
The London Heathrow travel facility, a major international hub used by many attendees at the premier betting market convention, will be completed later this year and will feature a single, uninterrupted 43-minute train ride.
London Stanstead airport will be a 54-minute train ride away with London Luton taking 34 minutes. Elizabeth Line will have 24 trains per hour, with the capacity to carry more than half a million passengers a day.
Stuart Hunter, Managing Director of Clarion Gaming, said: “With the opening of Elizabeth Line, whose color scheme is the traditional purple used by ICE London itself, ExCeL London is set to be the most connected event venue in the world, with two stops DLR, the new main station, an airport, water transport and even a cable car.”
“The ease and speed of travel will enhance the visitor experience with significant time savings, leading to an increase in networking, learning and business opportunities. Giving buyers more time to be onsite will undoubtedly deliver an improved ROI and I expect an even greater percentage of players to attend our world-class events,” he added.
Clarion director believes ICE London 2023 edition will be historic
“The opening of Elizabeth Line is a game-changer on many different levels, most notably the access it offers to many hundreds of hotels in central London, which are now a 12-minute drive from ExCeL. This major development coincides with the return of the entire gaming industry to ICE in 2023, ensuring that the upcoming February edition will be one of the most memorable in the history of this major international event.”
Since reopening last summer, ExCeL London has welcomed over 1.5 million visitors and has invested in a 25,000 square meter expansion program to further enhance its world-class facilities.
