Paddy Power announces reopening of UK bookmakers

Flutter Entertainment’s Paddy Power brand has announced the reopening of its UK bookmakers. In addition, the company communicated details of the new way of operating its physical establishments.

In an official statement, the operator confirmed that all of its points in England, Wales and Scotland are reopening, while betting sites in Ireland remain closed. However, unlike Scotland and Wales, stores in England will have to operate with greater restrictions.

Care includes a maximum capacity of eight people, only two gaming machines connected, all furniture removed and no live broadcast of a sporting event. Bettors can only stay on site for a maximum period of 15 minutes with two visits per day before stores close at 8 pm.

Each store opened in the UK will still need to comply with government-mandated security measures, such as social detachment and sanitary procedures. Paddy Power has also pledged to instruct its players to use hand sanitizers before and after using the machine and even to discard the pen they use when placing a bet.

The official statement of the brand also said that all machines and counters in the store will have a protective screen, there will still be markings on the floor to help players line up safely and meet social distancing guidelines.

Regarding stores that remain closed, Paddy Power stressed that customers with a bet slip will receive their winnings as soon as the locations are allowed to reopen. However, if they have an online account, they can apply for store credit.
