PokerStars, an online poker platform, promises to shake things up with the debut of two Mystery Bounty tournaments during the New Year Series.

These tournaments bring an exciting new feature: mystery prizes for players who eliminate their opponents during the event.

PokerStars match prizes reach US$250,000

Scheduled for this Sunday (13), at 2:30 pm Brasília time, PokerStars’ Mystery Bounty tournaments promise to deliver extra doses of excitement to participants.

In the first tournament, with a buy-in of US$11 (approximately R$54), the guaranteed prize pool reaches the mark of US$250 thousand (approximately R$1.23 million).

The second, known as the Sunday Million Special Edition, demands a buy-in of US$109 (around R$537) and presents an even more attractive guaranteed prize pool, reaching US$1 million (R$4.9 million in conversion current).

The big difference in these tournaments is the element of mystery. In other words, PokerStars will reveal the value of additional prizes only after registration hours close.

Therefore, this secret amount will directly depend on the number of entries, keeping participants in suspense until the crucial moment of an opponent’s elimination.

Popularization comes precisely from the mystery

Therefore, this mystery bounty tournament format has captivated players both on online poker platforms and in-person events.

The recent BSOP (Brazilian Series of Poker) Millions, for example, introduced this concept, rewarding players with surprising amounts.

Two lucky winners won R$100,000, the biggest prize of the event.

The prize pool will work as follows during the PokerStars event, the mystery prize is divided into two equal parts:

  • half of it is part of the normal prize awarded to players who exceed the prize range
  • half will be reserved for the mystery rewards awarded with each elimination.

Therefore, it is worth noting that if a contestant is eliminated in a split hand, all winners share the mystery reward equally.

This way, players have the ability to track which prizes are still available in the “Tournament Information” widget displayed on the virtual table.
