Kindred reports drop in Q2 betting revenue

Kindred‘s share of revenue from problem gambling (Gambling) was recorded at 3.1% in Q2 2023, down 0.2% from Q1.

Initially, Kindred’s share of problem betting revenue was reported as 3.0% in Q1 2023.

However, in this second period update, the company stated that this was a miscalculation. The real value was 3.3% in the 1st quarter of 2023.

This means that for the first quarter, revenue remained stable versus the same period in 2022, rather than decreasing by 0.3% as reported.

Kindred claimed that this happened due to a “data handling error” stemming from “an update in the communication of self-excluded customer data”.

Kindred seeks to encourage responsible gambling

The company’s quarterly report on revenue is in line with its target of zero. This is an initiative that aims for 0% of Kindred’s revenue to come from gambling related issues.

Nils Andén, acting CEO of Kindred Group, said the journey to zero will not be a quick fix.

“Our ambition to achieve zero is an important yardstick for Kindred and our ability to contribute to an evidence-based dialogue on how to establish a more sustainable gaming industry,” he said.

“It also serves as a key metric in Kindred’s internal efforts to improve our responsible gaming initiatives.”

“We were always clear that we weren’t going to achieve this ambition overnight,” added Andén.

As a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), Kindred sent its share of the 45.5 million total safer gaming messages sent by EGBA members in 2022.
