SOFTSWISS and SBC held a joint webinar on how the 2026 World Cup will reshape the performance of sportsbooks in Latin America. The session focused on why the region faces unique infrastructure pressure during the tournament and what operators must do now to maintain stability and retain players.
The webinar, World Cup 2026: The Impact of Hosting in Latin America on the Performance and Stability of Sports Betting Platforms, brought together experts from SOFTSWISS, Stellar Gaming and Gamewiz to discuss how the industry can prepare for one of the most demanding betting periods in recent years.
What is the biggest operational challenge for the iGaming World Cup
Speakers pointed to the scale of the tournament as the main risk factor.
Fellipe Fraga, Chief Business Officer at Stellar Gaming, said: “This will be the biggest World Cup in history: more than 100 matches and 48 national teams. The load on systems will be enormous for a much longer period than we are used to. You can’t prepare for this in a week.”
In Latin American markets, where user growth is accelerating, even small disruptions can affect brand perception. At the same time, the opportunity is significant.
Bruno Palumbo, Country Manager Brazil at Gamewiz added: “We expect at least 30% growth in betting volume compared to usual peaks, with the potential to reach 100%. The question is not whether the players will come, but whether you will be able to retain them after the final whistle.”
The discussion highlighted critical pressure points, including reliance on third-party services and the need to maintain performance during prolonged peak periods.
Infrastructure as a competitive differentiator
Operators need to ensure stable integrations with payment systems, data providers and KYC services, as well as prepare backup solutions to avoid outages during critical betting windows.
Carolina Diniz Flauzino, Business Development Manager at SOFTSWISS, addressed an important regional challenge:
“In Latin America, operators often focus on price over quality. But when platform stability is at stake during a global event, quality must become the only priority. A strong partner is your insurance for success.”
The comments reflect SOFTSWISS’ approach to its sports betting platform. The solution is designed to handle high-load events through a distributed infrastructure and continuous system monitoring, supporting integrations with multiple third-party providers in Latin American markets.
It also includes risk management tools that help traders adjust limits and strategies during critical moments, reducing exposure and maintaining player confidence.
Fraga said: “Technology is the only factor that can shut down your business instantly. We don’t just launch a platform — we build an architecture that needs to weather the storm.”
A recording of the webinar is available for operators wanting a more in-depth analysis of infrastructure strategies for Latin America ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
