How to participate
To compete in the Mega-Sena, the bettor must choose between 6 and 20 numbers on the betting wheel. You can opt for automatic selection of numbers by the system, known as “Surpresinha”, or repeat the same bet in several consecutive contests, called “Teimosinha”.
The minimum bet of 6 numbers costs R$5.00, and the value increases depending on the number of choices.
Frequency of draws and prize distribution
Mega-Sena draws take place three times a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Each draw offers the chance to win prizes by matching 4, 5 or 6 numbers out of the 60 available on the wheel.
Mega-Sena allocates 43.35% of the proceeds to prizes and divides this amount as follows:
- 35% rewards winners of the 6 numbers (Sena).
- 19% rewards those who get 5 numbers right (Quina).
- 19% goes to those who match 4 numbers (Quadra).
- 22% accumulates for contests with an ending of 0 or 5.
- 5% is reserved for the last draw of the year, Mega da Virada.
Validity of Mega-Sena prizes
If there are no winners in any bracket, the prize rolls over to the next draw in the same bracket. So check your betting slip.
Finally, the prizes expire 90 days after the draw and, after this period, the amounts go to the National Treasury and are allocated to FIES – Higher Education Student Financing Fund.
