New government tool removes 326 thousand Brazilians from betting websites

A survey released by the Federal Government last Friday (27) showed that the number of Brazilians who chose to ban their own profiles in betting houses has already surpassed the mark of 326 thousand.

The mass blocking occurred through the new Centralized Self-Exclusion Platform, a tool created by the Executive to facilitate the removal of users from the iGaming market and curb over-indebtedness.

How the Unified Lockdown Tool Works

The system allows bettors to request the termination of their ties with all companies in the regulated sector in a single request.

By activating the self-exclusion platform, the citizen guarantees three immediate protection actions:

  • Automatic closure of all your active accounts on betting sites in Brazil.
  • Preventive blocking that prevents the creation of new registrations.
  • Total interruption in the sending of advertising and targeted offers by operators.

The warning against addiction and the SUS support network

Along with the disclosure of the significant volume of exclusions, the government’s social networks intensified the awareness campaign about the dangers of compulsive gambling.

The official publication issued a direct warning to consumers. “Betting is not an investment. Betting can generate dependence and lead to the loss of money, problems in your family and your mental health.”

The Executive reinforced that the activity needs to be restricted to fun.

In cases where the player identifies financial or emotional losses, the government advises the immediate interruption of betting.

Furthermore, the public health network (SUS) already offers specialized reception and monitoring to treat signs of dependence.

Launch at the end of 2025

The bet self-exclusion platform was launched on December 3, 2025 as part of the actions that are part of the Observatório Brasil Saúde e Apostas Eletrônicas.

The Ministers of Health, Alexandre Padilha, and Treasury, Fernando Haddad, signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement to structure this permanent channel for data exchange and strengthen care strategies for people facing problems with gambling.
