Sportingbet é a quarta empresa a solicitar a licença para operar no Brasil

Last Thursday, the sportsbook Sportingbet submitted a request for authorization to the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets of the Ministry of Treasury (SPA/MF) to operate the fixed-odd betting market and online games in Brazil.

The company followed all guidelines and ordinances from the Ministry of Treasury (SPA/MF 827/24) and filed the request within the established deadline.

The order placed at SPA reinforces the company’s commitment to responsibility and safety in a market that is growing every day. Antonio Forjaz, Head of Entain Latin America (owner of the Sportingbet brand), said: “It is an important milestone on our path to participate in the regulated market.”

We have always been advocates of regulation and are excited to be part of the first group of companies in Brazil to submit an application to obtain a license. In the end, who wins is our consumer and the market as a whole”, he added.

In addition to Sportingbet, Betano, Superbet and Rei do Pitaco have already started the process

In this way, the request was registered in SIGAP (Betting Management System), which allows the monitoring and inspection of bets.

Therefore, Sportingbet joined three other brands that have already started this process with the Federal Government: Betano, Superbet and Rei do Pitaco.

New steps in regulating the Brazilian market

Companies interested in obtaining national authorization for online betting can register on the Ministry of Treasury‘s website and send the necessary documentation. To guarantee authorization by January 1, 2025, the request must be made by the deadline in August.

Additionally, betting sites will need to operate under a new domain, bet.br, created to control fraud and reduce illegal activity. The government will grant final authorization on December 31st. This way, the sites will be able to go live the next day.

By next Wednesday (31), the Ministry of Treasury intends to publish five new ordinances to regulate online betting.
