SPA holds the 1st Gambling Consumer Protection and Responsible Gaming Seminar

Next Tuesday (16), the Prizes and Betting Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance (SPA/MF) will hold an extremely important event for companies in the sector.

The 1st Gambling Consumer Protection and Responsible Gambling Seminar aims to promote debate on initiatives and guidelines aimed at protecting the gambling consumer, promoting responsible gambling and strengthening the sustainability of the regulated betting environment in Brazil.

The meeting will take place in the Auditorium of the National Institute of Criminalistics (INC) of the Federal Police and will bring together representatives of public authorities, sector experts and partner institutions to share experiences, good practices and reflections on the challenges of the regulated betting market.

Who will be the speakers at the seminar?

So far, 14 names have been confirmed to speak at the 1st Gambling Consumer Protection and Responsible Gaming Seminar.

They are:

  • Daniele Correa – Secretary of Prizes and Bets at the Ministry of Finance.
  • Andiara Maria Braga Maranhão – General Coordinator of Responsible Gaming at the Prizes and Betting Secretariat.
  • Carlos Eduardo Scappini – Founding partner of Mynd.
  • Cristiane Cavassa – Prosecutor and Coordinator of the Operational Support Center of the Public Prosecutor’s Offices for Collective Protection of Consumers, Taxpayers and Personal Data Protection of the MPRJ.
  • Elcio Guerra Junior – Public Defender of the State of Santa Catarina and Coordinator of the Consumer Defense and Civil Support Center (NUDECONCI) of DPE-SC.
  • Juliana Albuquerque – Executive Vice President of CONAR.
  • Karen Taveira Barros Duarte – President of the Institute for the Promotion and Defense of Citizens and Consumers of Maranhão (PROCON/MA).
  • Leonardo Carriço Apostolatos – Collaborating psychiatrist at PROAMITI (IPq FMUSP) and Residency Preceptor in Psychiatry at Santa Casa de Santos.
  • Lorena Tamanini Rocha Tavares – Lawyer, specialist in consumer protection and executive in the Client area in the private sector.
  • Maria Aparecida – Deputy Secretary of the Secretariat of Information and Digital Health of the Ministry of Health (SEIDIGI/MS).
  • Marcelo Kimati Dias – Director of the Department of Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs of the Ministry of Health.
  • Renato Pucci – General Coordinator of Betting Supervision at the Prizes and Bets Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance.
  • Ricardo Morishita Wada – National Consumer Secretary.
  • Vitor Morais de Andrade – President of ABRAREC, Professor at PUC-SP, Member of the National Data Protection Council and Advisor at CONAR.

Event schedule

Starting at 9am and ending at 5:30pm, the seminar will feature important topics for the current betting scenario in Brazil, such as, for example, actions for the prevention and treatment of gambling disorder addiction and the importance of Procons’ activities in the new fixed-odd betting market.
