COB EXPO, in partnership with IDT-CEMA (Institute of Development, Tourism, Culture, Sport and Environment), will promote the 1st Sports Tourism Forum. The event will feature strategic panels to discuss the following themes: “The Potential of Sports Tourism in Brazil” and “Opportunities for Sport and Games in Tourism”.
In addition, there will be the presence of leaders from the tourist trade, directors of sports confederations and the participation of Olympic medalists from Paris who will be honored at the event.
Sports tourism and the future of destinations in Brazil
“The proposal of the Sports Tourism Forum is to bring together leaders from different sectors to create synergies and develop opportunities to strengthen destinations, generate income and create new Olympic and life champions”, explains Bruno Omori, president of IDT-CEMA and coordinator of the event.
Thus, one of the strategic debate panels will be: “Potential of Sports Tourism in Brazil”: bringing innovative proposals to tourist destinations and the hotel market in Brazil. It will feature Leandro Correa, president of APRECESP, who will speak about the “Importance of Sport and Sports Events in Tourist Resorts”
Another prominent theme will be the relevance of “Synergy between sport and tourism”, in the speech of Mauzler Paulinetti, Executive Secretary of ASEMESP (Association of Municipal Sports and Leisure Secretaries of the State of São Paulo), and Advisor to the State Sports Council of the State of SP.
The gaming and sports betting sector will also present proposals on partnerships and sponsorships that BET’S can offer for official Sports Confederations events. Guilherme Sadi, a lawyer specializing in the sector, will present the topic, providing essential details and information on the subject during the event.
No less important will be the presentations by José Roberto Sevier, president of PROMA Feiras, on the “Importance of professional organization at fairs and exhibitions during sporting events” and by Ronald Lopes, sports director who will present the success story of the “Projeto Juntos pelo Esporte to strengthen Tourist Destinations”
MMA Championship in Brazil in 2025
According to the schedule, the second panel of the day will be “Opportunities for Sport and Games in Tourism”. The panel will feature Peter Stafford, General Director of GAMMA (Global Mixed Martial Arts World Championship).
In other words, the executive will come from Switzerland to announce the holding of the MMA World Championship in Brazil in 2025. Peter Stafford will also talk about the importance of holding the event in the country.
The championship, which will take place between June 16th and 20th, 2025, will be held at Wet’n Wild. Thus, the event will bring together 8 octagons and representatives from 110 countries, with the possibility of increasing this number by the time it is held.
This way, experts will present detailed information about the MMA World Championship in Brazil. The president of WET’N WILD, Alain Baldacci, will explain how “Sports events strengthen the Theme Parks market in Brazil”.
Then, industry leaders will discuss the synergy between gaming and tourism during the event. João Marcelo Dornellas, president of the São Paulo Poker Federation and partner of the H2 group, one of the main players in the Brazilian market, will present the theme: “POKER creating tourist flows for Brazilian tourist destinations”.

Beth Gomes and inclusion in sport and tourism
COB EXPO will be attended by two-time Paralympic champion, Beth Gomes, who at the Paris Paralympic Games won:
- Gold in Discus Throw
- Silver in Shot Put
Furthermore, the athlete was the Flag Bearer of Brazil at the opening of the competition. She is a special guest at the event, will be honored and will speak about her “Vision of sport and tourism for people with disabilities”.
