The Enjoy Group requested a set of modifications to its projects in Viña del Mar and Coquimbo, and after successive requests and revisions, the Gaming Casinos Superintendence (SCJ) finally approved most of the proposed modifications in both centers.
Pursuant to the submission of the first of these initiatives, the company submitted to SCJ an application for authorization to make changes to its entire project, an application that was first submitted in mid-March.
These changes, according to the initial document sent to the regulator, consist of expanding the game rooms (bingo hall, main and VIP) by a total of 169 m²; and increase the surface of the bar – adding new services – and the showroom.
It also seeks to change the location of some of these rooms, and reduce the area of circulation in the complementary works.
Changes made to bring efficiency and profitability
According to Enjoy, the proposed changes “aim to adjust the project in order to achieve maximum efficiency in construction time and profitability in a context of health emergency”. It also indicated that the materialization of the proposed modifications does not imply a variation in the total investment of the integral project, which remains at US$12,162 million.
In the first instance, the SCJ resolution board had rejected the request because the requested changes were presented before the operator had sufficient time to perform the work. However, the panorama changed some time after receiving the green light from the regulator to extend the deadlines of its works, after the publication of Supreme Decree 77, which gave this possibility.
Consulted by the local press, the SCJ said that after the authorization of the extension of the extension already granted for the development of its project, “the operating company resubmitted the request on May 27, which was authorized on June 4 by the collegiate body”.
Likewise, the company also obtained approval to make modifications to Coquimbo. From the Superintendence, they detail about the request for the Casino de la Bahía project that the resolution council – in a session last April 30 – authorized the increase in the gaming area, although it rejected the proposal to reduce the area of the bingo hall , while the operating company did not demonstrate compliance with the normative requirement for occupancy load of this venue.
Later, the operator played his cards again, again introducing the app incorporating tweaks, which was finally authorized. For this project, the total investment remains at Ch$32,629 million (US$45 million).
Enjoy investing heavily for the 2022 high season
At the same time, Enjoy said that after announcing that they would resume construction work on the new casino in Pucón – a project whose start-up had to be halted due to legal reasons and factors associated with the pandemic -, they are now making progress in its initial phase.
Therefore, the company expects the new Enjoy casino in Pucón to be operational before the 2022 peak season, for which they say they are working to meet deadlines for the construction of more than 4,000 square meters.
It should be remembered that the company asked for some time extensions to complete all of its municipal projects.
