Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, president of the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj), and vice president Fabíola Esteves, were in São Paulo to meet with Educafro. The goal was to exchange experiences on social projects and responsible gaming strategies. The meeting was attended by Friar David, executive director of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM).
Loterj representatives presented initiatives aimed at ensuring a safe, transparent, and illegal betting environment. This includes combating illegal websites and protecting children and adolescents from gambling.
The highlight of the visit was a presentation of the Responsible Gaming Center. The center will offer specialized care to compulsive gamblers and their families, including medical, psychological, and psychiatric support, as well as financial education.
Loterj’s visit aimed to exchange experiences
According to Loterj president Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, the visit seeks to engage with society about responsible gaming.
“This visit reinforces our commitment to engaging with society and demonstrating that regulation is a powerful tool for protecting citizens, combating illegality, and promoting a healthy and responsible gaming environment,” he said.
On that occasion, Loterj made a point of presenting alternatives to prevent children and adolescents from accessing gambling. Furthermore, it emphasized that lotteries and gambling should be viewed as fun and entertainment, not a way of life.
The fight against illegal gambling was also highlighted, especially regarding the elimination of illegal payment methods. The warning is that the action could take down approximately 400 illegal websites simultaneously.
The visit solidified Loterj’s commitment to ethical, transparent, and socially responsible action, reaffirming the importance of dialogue with civil society organizations in developing effective public policies.
