How Brazilians Play in Italy: An Exclusive Interview with Federico Maggio

With over 50,000 Brazilians living in Italy, this community brings unique cultural influences to various aspects of local life, including the online gaming sector. To better understand how Brazilians view online casinos while living abroad, Stephanie Pinheiro of Jogos de Apostas spoke with Federico Maggio, founder of MiglioriCasinoItalia.it, a leading player in the Italian gaming industry.

In this exclusive interview, he discusses which games most appeal to Brazilians, how cultural habits shape these choices, and what operators can do to better engage this vibrant audience.

Gambling Games: Do Brazilians living in Italy show a preference for any specific type of casino game?

Federico Maggio: “Currently, more than 50,000 Brazilians live in Italy, mainly in Rome and Milan. From my experience in the industry and from frequent conversations with Brazilian players in the country, I see a clear trend: many continue to prefer the same games they played in Brazil.

Even living here, they maintain a strong connection with popular titles in Brazil. A striking example is the strong interest in crash games, especially Aviator. These games are fast-paced, easy to play, and create a sense of community—factors that greatly attract Brazilians.”

Jogos de Apostas: Are there communities, forums, or groups of Brazilians in Italy who share tips or content about casinos

Federico Maggio: “So far, I haven’t identified any structured forums or communities—like Telegram channels or Facebook groups—where Brazilians in Italy exchange information about casinos. There may be informal groups, but nothing very visible or organized. One important point I’ve noticed is the lack of support in Portuguese on licensed Italian platforms.”

Many only offer local language, which can hinder both the player experience and the creation of active communities. Addressing this issue would increase inclusion and engagement.”

Jogos de Apostas: What advice would you give to Brazilians who want to play safely at online casinos in Italy?

Federico Maggio: “My first recommendation is to only play on platforms licensed by the ADM (Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli). This regulatory body guarantees strict standards of security, transparency, and data protection. It’s the most reliable way to bet online here.”

Additionally, I suggest exploring new types of games. The Italian market is very dynamic and offers a wide variety of quality options, such as live dealer games from renowned providers like Evolution and Playtech. For those accustomed to more limited formats, this is a great opportunity to discover different experiences.”

Jogos de Apostas: Do Brazilians tend to use Italian platforms more or do they prefer international casinos?

Federico Maggio: “Many choose ADM-licensed sites, especially when they understand the benefits of the regulated system: security, transparency, and player protection. However, some still seek out international casinos, either because of familiarity with well-known brands in Brazil or due to language barriers.”

Jogos de Apostas: Are there cultural differences in the way Brazilians and Italians play online?

Federico Maggio: “Yes, I notice some interesting differences. Brazilians tend to prefer faster, more adrenaline-filled experiences.”

Jogos de Apostas: Are Brazilians in Italy more interested in bonuses, free spins or promotions?

Federico Maggio:“Definitely. Brazilians highly value welcome bonuses, free spins, and promotions in general. But it’s essential to read the terms and conditions carefully. Promotions at Italian casinos tend to be more complex than in other markets.”

Jogos de Apostas: Is there a specific type of game, such as bingo, slots, or live roulette, that is most popular among them?

Federico Maggio: “Yes, some preferences are common. In addition to crash games like Aviator, which are hugely successful, I see a lot of interest in online bingo, a traditional game in Brazil. Even in Italy, many Brazilians continue to seek out this type of entertainment, especially when the versions are quick and simplified.”

Jogos de Apostas: What could operators do to better connect with the Brazilian community in Italy?

Federico Maggio: “There are two fundamental points. The first is language: providing websites and customer support in Brazilian Portuguese would greatly facilitate the experience, especially for those who don’t yet speak Italian. This builds trust and loyalty.

The second is to offer familiar games: many Brazilians still seek out titles they’re already familiar with, such as crash games and Latin-themed slots. This creates closeness and engagement.”

Jogos de Apostas: Does the Brazilian presence in Italy influence the local online gaming market?

Federico Maggio: “Not at the moment. The community is still too small to impact traders’ strategies or overall market trends. But who knows in the future.”
