The National Basketball League (LNB) met at its headquarters in São Paulo with lawyer José Francisco Manssur, legal consultant, to discuss the new rules for the sports betting market.

The event served to clarify the conduct necessary to align LNB practices with the new legislation. The conversation brought together employees from areas such as marketing, communication and sports regulation, allowing them to understand the direct impacts on the operations of the entity, clubs and associated players.

Changes go beyond the sports betting sector

The new regulation brought significant challenges to the sports betting market in Brazil. For more than two hours, Manssur detailed legal aspects that influence advertising, broadcasts, uniforms and brand exposure. Specific rules regarding the use of images of young athletes were also discussed.

“It is prohibited to link the image of minors under 18 to these websites. For athletes between 18 and 21 years old, there are additional restrictions”, highlighted the lawyer. These changes require a detailed review of current practices, considering the suitability and transparency of the LNB.

For José Francisco Manssur, the moment is crucial to educate those involved in the sports ecosystem. “The most important aspect is awareness. These conversations help to align values and responsibilities with the integrity of competitions”, he stated. He reinforced the importance of constant dialogue to build a healthy environment in line with current legislation.

Thus, the initiative was also praised by LNB’s commercial director, Eduardo Leite, who highlighted the educational role of the lecture for employees. “This education work goes beyond sport. It is an essential process for all levels of our organization.”

Future challenges and adjustments

The re-elected president of the LNB, Rodrigo Franco Montoro, highlighted the challenge of implementing the new standards. “Regulation requires adjustments at several levels, we are not starting from scratch. It’s a complex but essential process,” he explained.

According to Montoro, LNB is committed to ensuring that all competitions are conducted within established standards. Still, the path to complete adaptation requires joint work.

“We count on all departments involved to ensure compliance with these rules. This is the first step of many”, concluded the president.

At the end of the meeting, Manssur highlighted the importance of the doubts raised by the participants. “These interactions enrich the learning process for everyone. By listening to different points of view, we improve practices and strengthen collective knowledge”, he stated.

But the discussion also served as a starting point for other sports. Thus, with football already adapting its practices, Brazilian basketball is moving forward along the same path, consolidating a more professional and responsible ecosystem.
