Based on a ranking carried out by H2 Gambling Capital, the United Kingdom and the United States stand out as the leading countries in the online gaming market. UK revenue reached $12.48 billion in 2021, followed by the US at $11 billion.
Online gaming global gross revenue reached US$102 billion. Much further afield, the Australian market completes the Top 3, with revenues of US$6.55 billion. Then come Italy and France, raising 4.5 billion dollars and 3.8 billion dollars, respectively.
The study also reveals a strong European presence in the segment, with Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain and Greece in the top 10. No country from Asia, South America or Africa managed to make it onto this list.
The popularity of online gambling grew exponentially during the Covid-19 pandemic, due to the impossibility of accessing physical betting spaces. Other factors also contributed significantly to this global increase in the gaming market, such as technological development and the popularization of internet access.
It is worth noting that recently H2 Gambling Capital – responsible for the report – and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), recognized industry authorities worldwide on betting integrity and betting market data, signed a renewal of their successful partnership agreement that sees the two organizations work to raise the standards of betting market regulation and integrity protection.
