Mega-Sena draws R$40 million prize this Tuesday

Mega-Sena will hold its 2,741st draw this Tuesday (3). The estimated prize for whoever gets all six numbers right is R$40 million, as reported by Caixa Econômica Federal.

The draw will take place at 8pm at Espaço da Sorte in São Paulo, and will be broadcast live on Caixa’s YouTube channel. You can also follow the results on the institution’s social media channels.

How to bet on Mega-Sena

Bets can be placed until 7:00 p.m., either at accredited lottery outlets or via the Loterias Caixa website or app. The minimum value of a single bet, which allows you to choose six numbers, is R$5.

Those who want to increase their chances can opt for bets with more numbers. However, the price also increases proportionally. It is worth noting that the more numbers chosen, the greater the chances of winning.

How the award works

The Mega-Sena gross prize corresponds to 43.35% of the total collection. Of this percentage, the following are distributed:

  • 35% for those who guess all six numbers;
  • 19% for those who guess five numbers;
  • 19% for those who get four correct answers;
  • 22% are accumulated for competitions ending in zero or five;
  • 5% goes to the Mega da Virada prize.

According to Caixa Econômica Federal, “the prizes expire 90 days after the draw date. After this period, the institution transfers the amounts to the National Treasury, which invests them in the Higher Education Student Financing Fund (Fies).”

Odds of winning the Mega-Sena lottery

The odds of winning vary depending on the number of numbers chosen. According to Caixa, “the probability of winning all six numbers with a simple bet of six numbers is 1 in 50,063,860”.

On the other hand, a bet with 15 numbers, which costs R$22,522.50, offers a 1 in 10,003 chance of winning the main prize.
