With the aim of preventing and providing information about match-fixing, Ceará held a lecture for the club’s professionals. Entitled “Legal Football – Building an ideal system to combat match-fixing”, the presentation was presented in partnership with Sportradar and the bookmaker Esportes da Sorte.
The action took place at the Porangabuçu training center. Athletes and members of the club’s men’s and women’s soccer coaching staff were present. Ceará seeks to guide professionals on the risks involved in manipulation schemes linked to sports betting.
In addition, the event featured a speaker from Felippe Marchetti, Sportradar’s Director of Integrity in Latin America. For about an hour, participants discussed topics such as player grooming and sports punishments.
“It is very important for athletes to participate and for us to bring this knowledge to them, because we have an entire system of sports betting today, exposing athletes to manipulation and, often, this information about the risks involved does not reach them”, highlighted Felippe Marchetti.
“I am very happy that a club the size of Ceará opens its doors so that we can talk to male and female professionals and share this knowledge, because I am sure that the athletes will talk to their colleagues and this knowledge will spread,” he added.
Ceará and Sportradar confirm commitment to sporting integrity
Ceará’s football executive, Lucas Drubscky, also reinforced the club’s commitment to sporting integrity and highlighted the preventive actions that have been developed internally.
“Ceará takes this issue very seriously. The club is currently an important player in the fight against match-fixing. We act preventively with frequent meetings and have a guide that addresses the issue with the team.”
“It is our obligation to provide these moments of knowledge for athletes and coaching staff. We are living in a time where the integrity of sport is being questioned. Given this scenario, actions like this are very important,” said the director.
