IBIA Payment Providers Forum strengthens collaboration with SPA-MF

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) Payment Providers Forum was represented by co-presidents Ari Celia of Pay4Fun Instituição de ZPagamento S.A. and Marcelo Bueno M. Carneiro of Z.ro Bank at a meeting with the Ministry of Treasury’s Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA-MF) in Brasília.

The purpose of the meeting was to officially introduce the forum, highlight its expanding role in supporting the Brazilian regulated market, and assess how closer collaboration with the SPA can improve payment integrity and compliance efforts nationwide.

During the meeting, the following topics were covered:

  • The forum’s strategic direction in tackling illegal betting;
  • Joint action by financial institutions to block transactions for unauthorized operators;
  • Opportunities for exchanging information, holding collaborative workshops, and greater integration in inspection actions.

According to IBIA, “the entity is proud to have promoted this sectoral coordination by bringing together payment providers, regulatory bodies, and licensed operators to prevent gambling-related crimes,” further highlighting the important role played by the forum’s members.

The IBIA Payment Provider Forum remains open to new participants. Payment providers or financial institutions operating in Brazil who wish to contribute to this initiative can visit: https://ibia.bet/payment-provider-forum/

IBIA in partnership with the Ministry of Sports

It is worth remembering that in May of this year, the Ministry of Sports and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) signed a cooperation agreement focused on integrity in sports betting in Brazil.

The goal is to share information about suspicious activity, support investigations, and strengthen transparency at national sporting events.

The partnership connects the country’s sports integrity body with the world’s largest international betting integrity monitor for private operators, covering over 70% of the licensed online market in Brazil.

According to Minister André Fufuca, the agreement represents a milestone in the fight against match-fixing. This is because it expands tools to curb fraud and ensure trust in sports competitions.

In short, for IBIA, the cooperation allows for rapid responses when identifying suspicious bets, using its monitoring system based on detailed and exclusive data. Finally, the agreement reinforces the need for operators to integrate independent monitoring bodies, in line with the new Brazilian regulatory framework.
