Federal government adds more than one billion in revenue from bets in the first quarter

The betting market proved its enormous economic potential at the beginning of 2026. Between the months of January and March, revenue from bets surpassed the significant mark of R$1.15 billion.

This amount makes up a total revenue of R$4.17 billion collected by the federal government in the period.

The detailed data was requested through the Access to Information Law (LAI) by Pay4Fun, a payments company that operates in the area, highlighting the strong financial impact that the new digital segment already has on the National Treasury.

What was the pace of revenue from bets and the focus on health

In general, when analyzing the balance sheet for the first three months of the year, the flow of taxes paid by operators appeared to be quite constant.

In January, companies allocated R$368 million to the government. The month of February showed a slight peak, reaching R$443 million, while March ended the quarterly cycle with R$338 million.

Of this billion-dollar amount generated by online betting platforms, R$12.8 million was transferred directly to the Ministry of Health’s accounts.

This amount aims to finance awareness campaigns, in addition to measures to control and mitigate damage linked to gambling disorder, seeking, above all, to offer support to players and promote a safer entertainment ecosystem.

Traditional lotteries and the injection of billion-dollar resources

In this context, federal lotteries continue to be the major government financial engine in this niche.

The recent balance released by Caixa Econômica Federal illustrates this strength very well.

In this way, with an excellent performance in the first months of the year, the institution managed to transfer more than R$3.1 billion from lotteries to the country’s social development.

This volume from the draws is distributed to key areas of society.

Sectors such as, for example, the Ministry of Sports, Culture, Health and Public Security, benefited from these funds to keep their vital projects fully operational.
