{"id":226673,"date":"2026-05-07T12:42:38","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T15:42:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/nao-categorizado\/2026\/05\/07\/campeonato-carioca-has-manager-suspended-after-suspected-manipulation-at-barra-mansa\/"},"modified":"2026-05-07T16:11:30","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T19:11:30","slug":"campeonato-carioca-has-manager-suspended-after-suspected-manipulation-at-barra-mansa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/legislation-en\/2026\/05\/07\/campeonato-carioca-has-manager-suspended-after-suspected-manipulation-at-barra-mansa\/","title":{"rendered":"Campeonato Carioca has manager suspended after suspected manipulation at Barra Mansa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Rio de Janeiro football <\/strong>scene suffered a major shock this Tuesday (5) with a decision taken by the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tjdrj.org.br\/\"> Rio de Janeiro Court of Sports Justice (TJD-RJ)<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a preventive measure, the body determined that <strong>Sebasti\u00e3o Genivaldo da Silva, current president of Barra Mansa<\/strong>, step aside from his duties for an initial period of <strong>30 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The precautionary measure responds to a partial request from the <strong>Sports Justice Attorney&#8217;s Office<\/strong> and was motivated by a<strong> strong suspicion of manipulation at Barra Mansa<\/strong> during the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/sports-betting-en\/2023\/01\/26\/83-of-campeonato-carioca-clubs-are-sponsored-by-bookmakers\/\">Carioca S\u00e9rie B2 Championship<\/a><\/strong> disputes of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective of this temporary suspension, which may last until there are new deliberations, is to ensure, above all, that <strong>ongoing investigations occur without any type of interference<\/strong>, protecting the fairness of the competition.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How suspected manipulation at Barra Mansa caused the director&#8217;s suspension<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>punishment imposed <\/strong>on the agent did not happen by chance.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the details of the investigation, the court applied the measure <strong>after worrying signs emerged.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the elements that weighed against the top hat are, for example, <strong>management failures, obvious contradictions in the statements collected and reports of direct interference in the progress of matches.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trigger for the court decision was a<strong> statement from one of the managers of the sports institution itself.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This professional confirmed to the authorities that he had received information about the <strong>possible &#8220;delivery&#8221; of a clash in the state championship.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the TJD-RJ, upon becoming aware of such a harmful fact, the presidency had an immediate obligation to <strong>act with extreme rigor to combat fraud and shield the sport<\/strong>, which, according to the legal understanding, <strong>did not occur as expected.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The evidence found and the preservation of the professional cast<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the weight of the complaints directed at the main executive, the court opted, on the other hand, for a considered stance<strong> in relation to the sports institution.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, the judges <strong>denied the formal request to completely suspend the team from official competitions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The justification for this refusal is based on the fact that, to date,<strong> there is no robust evidence linking the fraud to an action coordinated by the club as a whole.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sports Court highlighted in its decision that<strong> banning the team now would be an unfair punishment, <\/strong>with a direct and devastating impact on<strong> athletes, members of the technical committee<\/strong> and employees <strong>who are not targets of police and sports investigation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process will follow its regular legal course, guaranteeing the constitutional right to full defense, and, finally, any more severe sanctions<strong> will only be applied after the rigorous and definitive conclusion of the investigation.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Rio de Janeiro football scene suffered a major shock this Tuesday (5) with a decision taken by the Rio de Janeiro Court of Sports Justice (TJD-RJ).
