href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/sports-betting-en\/2024\/12\/20\/football-dominates-sports-betting-preferences-in-brazil-with-84-2\/\">Football<\/a> Championship.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>group actively rigged officia<\/strong>l matches with the aim of <strong>ensuring illicit profits in the <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/sports-betting-en\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"Sports Betting\">sports betting<\/a> market.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Appointed as leader of the operation, <strong>William Pereira Rogatto <\/strong>received the most severe sanction from the court: <strong>13 years and six months&#8217; imprisonment in an initial closed regime, in addition to the payment of financial fines.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How the criminal group orchestrated the results manipulation scheme against the operators<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conviction is the result of <strong>&#8220;Operation End Game&#8221;<\/strong>, conducted by the <strong>Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (GAECO) of the Public Ministry.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sentence details that the <strong>criminal organization mapped and exploited the financial vulnerability of a local club to take over direct management of its football department.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With institutional control in hand, fraudsters<strong> instructed athletes to perform deliberate actions on the field to force the outcome of pre-determined bets.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To support the convictions, the Court used a <strong>robust cross-examination of evidence.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The judge based the decision on<strong> reports of non-standard bets<\/strong>, s<strong>uspicious financial transactions <\/strong>and <strong>videos showing abnormal moves during matches.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The impact on the integrity of the sport and the detailing of penalties<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the decision, the<strong> head judge of the Santa Maria Criminal Court highlighted that the scheme went beyond the limits of the field<\/strong>, constituting criminal crimes that <strong>undermine public trust and the integrity of sport and the betting ecosystem.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court defined the following penalties for the defendants, who can still appeal the decision:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>William Pereira Rogatto (Leader)<\/strong>: 13 years and six months in prison (closed regime) and 58 days fine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Amauri Pereira dos Santos:<\/strong> 11 years and ten months in prison (closed regime) and 45 days fine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alexandre Batista Damasceno<\/strong> and <strong>Nathan Henrique Gama da Silva:<\/strong> Seven years&#8217; imprisonment each (semi-open regime) and a
