According to Haddad, they will have to pay a retroactive <strong>30% <\/strong>fee.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This amount is made up of<strong> 15% taxes and another 15% fine<\/strong>, corresponding to the period in which they operated without taxation in the country.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program for repatriation of resources<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haddad explained that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/receitafederal\/pt-br\">Federal Revenue Service<\/a> would face difficulties in carrying out retroactive collection, highlighting the challenge of identifying the betting companies that operated in the country and sent their profits abroad. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In light of this, the government will create a specific program within the <strong>Provisional Measure (MP)<\/strong> report as an alternative to the <strong>Financial Transactions Tax (IOF)<\/strong>. The purpose is to repatriate these funds. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement was made during a press conference at the <strong>Federal Senate<\/strong>, where the agreement for the vote on the MP was detailed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, the report presented by <strong>Congressman Carlos Zarattini (PT\/SP)<\/strong> removed the government&#8217;s original proposal, which proposed increasing taxation on betting profits from <strong>12% to 18%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expected revenue from betting companies and the future of the sector<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the minister, the repatriation of resources is expected to generate R$5 billion in revenue. Consequently, this amount is equivalent to three years of revenue that would have been obtained with the original measure.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For him, the time gained will allow him to analyze the sector more cautiously and monitor its progress before making new decisions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Haddad stated<\/strong>: <em>&#8220;Congress itself will, in due course, look into these figures and determine whether it is advisable to maintain the current situation or, in light of the sector&#8217;s dynamics, to deliberate on the matter again.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, the Treasury Minister highlighted that mutual concessions between the government and parliamentarians made it possible to approve the measure this Tuesday (7), in the <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/legislation-en\/2025\/10\/08\/joint-committee-approves-provisional-measure-to-offset-iof-tax-on-financial-transactions-and-removes-from-the-text-the-increase-in-taxation-of-sportsbooks\/\">Joint Committee<\/a>. <strong>The text still needs to pass through the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate this Wednesday (8)<\/strong>, to remain valid.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Treasury Minister Fernando Haddad announced this Tuesday (7) a new charge for betting companies, known as bets.
