According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/receitafederal\/pt-br\">Federal Revenue Service<\/a>, <strong>R$2.1 billion of this amount came from lotteries, while R$2.6 billion came from taxes and contributions from the betting sector.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding the total revenue forecast for the 12 months of this year, <strong>Revenue Forecasting and Analysis Coordinator Marcelo Gomide said the department has not yet determined the total revenue forecast.<\/strong> According to him, the projection for this type of revenue is based on a different measurement method. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We normally only make projections for what we call revenue for legal purposes, what is classified as what I call, in a secular way, that is, without much scientific criteria, lotteries,&#8221;<strong> said Gomide.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, he highlighted that given the sector&#8217;s revenue behavior up to July, <strong>the forecast is that the number of collections in taxes and contributions, as well as from lotteries, will double by the end of 2025<\/strong>. &#8220;It should be close to double what we are presenting now, R$4.7 billion,&#8221; according to him.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revenue from betting and lotteries is expected to exceed R$10 billion in 2025<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the coordinator warned, recent changes to the collection format <strong>should take effect starting in November of this year. <\/strong>&#8220;We&#8217;re considering collections starting in November,&#8221; he explained. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In July, <strong>revenue reached R$928 million from betting and lottery operations, compared to R$8 million collected in the same month of 2024 <\/strong>and R$764 million in June 2025. The difference is due to the regulation of the sector, since gaming activities were not regulated in Brazil in June of last year. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These figures refer to revenue from bets linked to the 12% rate applied to gross gaming revenue, known as GGR. <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/legislation-en\/2025\/08\/12\/congress-hears-fernando-haddad-on-provisional-measure-that-increases-taxation-on-sportsbooks\/\">The provisional measure (MP)<\/a> that replaces part of the increase in the <strong>Financial Transactions Tax (IOF), published in June, raises this rate to 18%.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From January to July of this year, betting and lottery activities generated an impressive R$4.7 billion in revenue for the government.
