The honoring ceremony took place last Tuesday (11), at the Council&#8217;s headquarters, in Bras\u00edlia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Created since 2011<\/strong>, the award annually honors individuals and\/or institutions that have distinguished themselves in the area of \u200b\u200b<strong>preventing and combating money laundering<\/strong> or the financing of terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The diploma and its criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main criteria are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Carrying out <strong>services, work or studies in the prevention and combat of money laundering<\/strong> or the financing of terrorism;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carrying out services, work or studies that have benefited or supported Coaf in carrying out its activities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice of an act, contribution to a fact or exercise of a function that justifies the payment of a special tribute by Coaf.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a statement by <strong>Coaf president Ricardo Li\u00e1o<\/strong>, the agency&#8217;s work faces new challenges. This is due to the growth of sectors such as virtual assets, fixed-odds betting and environmental crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also highlighted the improvement of processes and the \u201csignificant increase in the exchange of financial intelligence information\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon receiving the award, <strong>SPA deputy secretary Carolina Yumi de Souza<\/strong> said: \u201cWe took on a huge challenge (&#8230;) and everyone who is part of this community embraced us. That&#8217;s why I want to thank you not only for the award, but also for letting me be part of this community,&#8221; she concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Professional history<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before her work at SPA, Carolina Yumi de Souza dedicated herself to the area of \u200b\u200bcombating money laundering. Until 2024, she had worked at the Ministry of Justice, heading the Department of Asset Recovery and International Legal Cooperation (DRCI). In addition to her, 11 other people have been awarded by COAF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Coaf<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/coaf\/pt-br\">Financial Activities Control Council <\/a>(<a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/legislation-en\/2025\/02\/13\/spa-and-coaf-instruct-bookmakers-on-reporting-suspicious-activities\/\">Coaf<\/a>) is a Brazilian administrative body.
