{"id":123479,"date":"2023-09-11T11:05:29","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T14:05:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/uncategorized\/2023\/09\/11\/sports-betting-regulation-evangelical-bench-wants-to-stop-project-in-the-chamber\/"},"modified":"2023-09-11T11:22:10","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T14:22:10","slug":"sports-betting-regulation-evangelical-bench-wants-to-stop-project-in-the-chamber","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/legislation-en\/2023\/09\/11\/sports-betting-regulation-evangelical-bench-wants-to-stop-project-in-the-chamber\/","title":{"rendered":"Sports betting regulation: evangelical bench wants to stop project in the Chamber"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chamber of Deputies must consider the report by <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/legislation-en\/2023\/09\/04\/sports-betting-bill-adolfo-viana-wants-to-include-evangelicals-in-the-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deputy Adolfo Viana (PSDB-BA)<\/a> which provides for the <strong>regulation of <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/sports-betting-en\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"Sports Betting\">sports betting<\/a> in Brazil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project establishes the <strong>taxation<\/strong> of players in the sector, in addition to creating mechanisms for monitoring and combating irregularities. However, the evangelical bench must try to obstruct the progress of the project in the House plenary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe will use all legislative resources at our disposal to prevent the project from moving forward,\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.camara.leg.br\/deputados\/74356\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deputy Silas C\u00e2mara (Republicanos-AM)<\/a><\/strong>, president of the group, told the Jovem Pan website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Jovem Pan, the deputy C\u00e2mara assures that the proposal does not offer any advantage to the population. The group&#8217;s parliamentarians are against any project that envisages allowing <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/legislation-en\/2023\/09\/06\/online-casinos-may-be-included-in-proposed-regulation-of-sports-betting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gambling<\/a> in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silas C\u00e2mara stated that the bench was unable to meet with Viana, however, a meeting could take place on Tuesday, 12th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the parliamentarian, the group is willing to talk, despite doubting the chance of being convinced of the project&#8217;s potential for Brazil. In total, the group has <strong>130 deputies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe will have the opportunity to speak to us. If in his speech to us he convinces us that this bill has no connection with the possibility of people becoming addicted to gambling in order to make it a channel for family misfortune, that&#8217;s fine,\u201d he told Folha de S.Paulo .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt&#8217;s kind of difficult to convince us of this, but we will listen to the rapporteur. And obviously we should never say that the guy doesn\u2019t have the ability to show that he\u2019s not what we think\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regulation of sports betting via Provisional Measure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The<strong> Federal Government<\/strong> has already published a provisional measure that addresses the regulation of <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/sports-betting-en\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"Sports Betting\">sports betting<\/a>. The PM was converted into <strong>bill 3626<\/strong>, which is under the rapporteurship of Adolfo Viana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The matter has constitutional urgency and, since Saturday, the 9th, has been on the agenda of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.camara.leg.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Chamber of Deputies<\/a>. The measure provides that companies in the sector will be taxed 18% on revenue obtained from games, after paying the prize to bettors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the<strong> Minister of Finance, <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbrazil.com\/en\/legislation-en\/2023\/03\/01\/fernando-haddad-is-in-favor-of-taxing-electronic-bets-to-compensate-for-loss-with-change-in-income-tax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fernando Haddad<\/a><\/strong>, the taxation of bets should result in a revenue of <strong>R$2 billion for public coffers<\/strong> next year.
