Flamengo filed a request for a stay of execution to release Bruno Henrique from the punishment imposed by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD). The club’s goal is to have the striker available until the final judgment is issued. This week, Flamengo filed a request for a stay of execution with the STJD plenary.
If the request is accepted, the striker is free to enter the field next Sunday (14), for the Brasileirão. The red-black team faces Juventude.
Bruno Henrique was punished with a 12-game suspension and approximately R$60,000 in fines. This is due to a possible case of match-fixing to benefit bettors.
The case concerns the reason for the yellow card received by the striker in a Brasileirão match against Santos in 2023. According to local press reports, the situation is positive for the STJD to accept the suspension.
However, it’s important to note that the player’s punishment only applies to matches in domestic competitions. Alcino Guedes, the rapporteur on the case, requested that the sanctions be made international, but there has been no consensus yet.
Bruno Henrique’s Punishment
The First Disciplinary Committee of the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) has fined Flamengo forward Bruno Henrique a 12-game suspension and a R$60,000 fine. The decision was made by a majority vote after a trial that lasted hours.
The athlete was accused of acting contrary to sporting ethics by allegedly forcing a yellow card, influencing the outcome of a match against Santos, in the 2023 Série A. However, an appeal can be made to the Plenary.
In addition to the striker, his brother Wander Nunes Pinto Júnior also received a 12-game suspension. Claudinei Vitor Mosquete Bassan received a seven-match suspension, while Andryl Sales Nascimento dos Reis and Douglas Ribeiro Pina Barcelos will each serve six.
The complaint arose from investigation 107/2025, and at first, there were only indications, but the scenario changed after the Federal Police (PF) concluded the investigations and shared evidence with the Sports Court.
