Authored by councilor Lúcio Flávio (PL), a public hearing that will debate the impacts of the legalization of games and the proposal to create the Aracaju Municipal Lottery (Locaju) is scheduled for this Friday (6), at 9 am, in the plenary of the Aracaju Chamber.
Thus, the hearing will have the participation of representatives for and against the bill, in addition to opening up space for the public to also express themselves.
The intention is to hold a broad and democratic discussion on the proposal, which generated strong repercussions in the capital of Sergipe.
Among those invited to speak on the occasion is Roberto Lasserre, national coordinator of the Brasil Sem Azar movement.
Therefore, the councilor’s objective is to bring together different points of view about Locaju, helping to inform the population and encourage more informed decision-making by councilors.

The Aracaju City Council approved the project in its first vote in May. The funds raised will be used for health, education, social assistance, sports, leisure and culture.
In the session held on May 8, councilor Isac Silveira (União Brasil), author of the project, highlighted: “The creation of Locaju reflects a trend that is growing throughout the country”.
According to Isac Silveira, this initiative represents a relevant strategy to increase the city’s revenue and can generate millions in revenue for Aracaju.
At the time, Lúcio Flávio (PL) expressed concern about the accelerated processing of the proposal. According to him, “the most prudent thing would be to wait for the position of the Supreme Federal Court, which evaluates whether official lotteries are the exclusive jurisdiction of the Union”.

In addition to the hearing, the matter will still need to undergo further votes in the Chamber so that it can be effectively implemented.
