The Minas Gerais Football Federation (FMF), in partnership with Sportradar, held training on integrity in sports betting at Arena Independência.
The action aimed to guide referees, managers and other agents of Minas Gerais football on how to identify and combat the manipulation of results in competitions.
Felippe Marchetti, Sportradar’s Director of Integrity Partnerships for Latin America, was responsible for leading the training. The initiative is part of a series of training sessions that the sports technology company has been carrying out with clubs and federations around the world.
According to Gabriel Cunha, FMF competitions director, it is important to raise awareness of the issue among football professionals.
“Integrity is the basis of any sport. Therefore, strengthening the awareness of all those involved in football is essential to preserving fair play. The FMF is committed to following the best governance and ethics practices in sport,” he said.
Sportradar brought real cases to FMF professionals
During the workshop, participants experienced real cases about methodologies used by criminal organizations and the monitoring mechanisms that Sportradar applies with its cutting-edge technology.
In his methodology, Felippe Marchetti presented information on how manipulation practices are diverse. Given this, it is important to stay up to date to combat this crime within sports institutions.
“Methods of match-fixing have become increasingly sophisticated, making it essential that everyone in the sporting world is prepared to recognize and report these practices.”
“Information is a powerful tool in combating this crime. We believe that education and awareness are essential pillars so that together we can protect the integrity of football,” he highlighted.
FMF once again presents innovation and continuous improvement in this partnership with Sportradar. The program integrates the preventive actions of the company’s global integrity system.
In addition, the training has been provided by clubs such as Palmeiras, Sport, Vitória, Náutico and Athletico-PR. However, FMF is the first federation in Brazil to receive training with the company focusing on refereeing.
