Finalist in every edition of the Campeonato Carioca since 2019, Flamengo maintains its favoritism against Fluminense, in the first game of this year’s final.

The first match is scheduled for this Wednesday (12), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) and is hosted by Fluminense. The return match, hosted by Rubro-Negro, takes place on Saturday (15), with time to be confirmed, both at Maracanã.

The match represents a special duel. With two finals won by each club since 2020, the 2025 final will mark the tiebreaker between the teams in this decade. In the main bookmakers in Brazil, Flamengo is the favorite to win the first leg, with average odds of 2.18.

Flamengo on the right path

With five consecutive wins, Mengão has yet to lose this season in games played with its first team. Despite this, the only two defeats this year occurred while the main team was in pre-season in Orlando, in the United States.

In total, the team played 14 games in 2025, one of which was for the Brazilian Super Cup, where they beat Botafogo 3-1 and won the title, and the others for the Carioca, totaling nine wins, two draws and two losses. In addition, the team led by Filipe Luís scored 31 goals and conceded only seven.

For the final, Rubro-Negro will be without Bruno Henrique, the team’s main player this season and a key player in the semi-final against Vasco da Gama. The striker left the field in the last match and had a muscle injury in the back of his right thigh confirmed in tests.

How Flu gets to the final

Fluminense, with average odds of 3.89, comes into the match in good shape. Mano Menezes’ team has not lost in nine games and has played 15 matches this year, two of which were in the Copa do Brasil and the rest in the Campeonato Carioca. Therefore, in total, there are seven wins, six draws and two losses.

With ten goals in 12 matches, Germán Cano is Tricolor’s main hope for winning the state title. In addition to the striker, Flu can count on the rise of Jhon Arias and Agustín Canobbio.
