Recently, young talents from Athletico Paranaense attended an educational lecture focused on match-fixing and sports betting. The club’s Human Development team, together with Lottopar, organized the initiative between Thursday (6) and Friday (7).

Its main purpose is to prevent and raise awareness among players about the risks and impacts of match-fixing, in addition to strengthening the protection of Brazilian football.

Marildo Campos, director of Athletico’s Youth Teams, highlighted that “on this topic of football integrity, it is important to bring to the awareness of these boys an analysis of the negative impact of an action like this, with some examples of athletes already banned from football, and to show how important it is to be honest, how important it is to play a fair game”.

Thus, the club seeks to raise awareness among young people about the importance of fair practices in sport.

Support for young players

Complementing the educational initiative, Fábio Veiga, Lottopar’s Operations Director, emphasized Athletico’s ongoing work: “We know that Athletico Paranaense has already done this work, has already provided guidance.”

“But we reinforce and bring positive cases, negative cases and reporting channels, where they can report manipulation and possible contacts with people who want to entice them.”

This informative reinforcement aims to provide athletes with effective tools to identify and report suspicious behavior. Therefore, through discussions full of real examples and open dialogues, Furacão and its partners are committed to educating players from an early age.
